Shipping Container Home Cinema Room

Acoustically Treated Cinema Room

This home cinema based in a shipping container building is now completed.

✅ Acoustics have been an important part of the design, it has a huge skyline wood 3D diffusor on the rear wall and quadratic diffusors on the side wall.

This home cinema is completely controlled via Control4, one button press on the Neo Remote turns it all on, sets the lighting level, chooses the right sources and HDMI channel another can shut it all down..

This Cinema is built into a shipping container building in a small tight metal space which is why the acoustics ended up being such an important part of the build.

Home Cinema Towards Screen

Looking in to Home Cinema

This home cinema is within a building made out of shipping containers. Getting a right ‘fit’ was very important, the cinema and the surroundings had to fit into the building (both physically and aesthetically). Its a 3 seat cinema with a 120” acoustically transparent screen beamed onto via a 4K Projector, Paradigm Speakers are mounted behind the screen, behind the seats and in the ceiling for Dolby Atmos.

Leather Motorised Recliners & Wooden Skyline Diffusor

Acoustics were a really important design consideration for this room, because of the small dimensions and it being located within shipping containers we needed to control how the sound worked within the room.

A custom built wood Skyline 3D diffuser for the rear of the room was used to break and diffuse the soundwaves with two different types of quadratic diffuser and absorbers for the side. The rear diffuser weighs over 120kg and is a 2x1 metre skyline diffuser, it's big.

Diffusers help to break up the sound in a room and can help make the soundtrack sound awesome. The ceiling also features a cloud of acoustic wedges to help control the sound reflecting from above.

Lighting and automation is all controlled with Control4 and a Control4 Neeo remote.

It’s a great room, really fun.
